Morse Patrol is loaded with San Francisco and Alameda County history. Morse Patrol was founded by Harry Morse.  He was once Sheriffof Alameda County andinstrumental in the capture of the infamous BLACK BART.  
The S.F Call newspaper, December 24, 1910 featured an article:  MARTIN TO HEAD THE MORSE PATROL. John B. Martin was former Chief of Police, San Francisco and terminated by then Mayor P.H. McCarthy. 
This example is a full size breast badge, 2-3/4 inches across and 3 inches tall.  Maker marked: 
PATRICK & COMPANY, SAN FRANCISCO.  Patrick was founded in 1894 and had several locations in S.F. over the decades to follow (California Street, Sansome, Pin, Bush, Sutter and Market.  The 1906 Great Earthquake & Fire required Patrick to move from Sansome Street to Pine St. U.S. Patent number stamped on the saddle of the pin attachment.
